Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT have taken their inclusive, nurturing, and safe environment online
In response to the societal uncertainty as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioning their place where girls and young women take part in a wide range of fun activities and adventures, delivered through a dynamic and flexible non–formal educational program, to cyberspace
, while also exploring other safe alternative deliveries of the Australian Guide Program.
allows local Unit meetings to continue without the need for face-to-face Unit meetings, with girls meeting safely in secure places using technology such as Microsoft Teams.
Since the launch of Guides@Home
, here is what some of our community are saying:
My daughter had her first session with her Guide Unit last night and they had a great time. She learned how to navigate the different views and meeting etiquette, ie muting, so each brownie had a chance to present their show and tell. For her turn she introduced our family dog which she thought was wonderful.
No doubt schools will close soon and distance learning will become the new norm. This was a wonderful gentle and fun introduction to learning in a digital space and I think has prepared her for what may come. It's also helped us as a family think about how we'll manage lessons and learning time etc”.

“What a fantastic initiative from Guide Leaders. So empowering for young women in difficult times. Great to see such innovation in the education of young women. These leaders should be commended for keeping the guides of their district engaged and learning.”
Steve and Georgina, Guide Parents
