Paint Kindness Rocks

Age Range: All Ages
Time Required: 30–60 mins
Fundamental: Service

Decorate rocks with positive messages and bright pictures and leave them where they can be seen to spread some kindness to people who may need it.

Materials Needed

  • Rocks of different shapes and sizes. Smooth, flat rocks tend to work the best
  • Non-toxic paint
  • Clear sealant/PVA glue
  • Paint brushes
  • Painting sponges
  • Paint pens (optional)

Help Needed

  • Girls of all ages should be able to do most of this activity on their own.
  • Girls under 8 may need help finding and writing messages.

Instructions

  1. Gather rocks of various shapes and sizes
  2. Paint a bright and happy picture or paint/write a positive quote or message on your rock – get creative!
  3. Let the rocks dry
  4. Seal the rocks with clear sealant or PVA glue and let dry
  5. Place your finished rocks outside where people can see them. This could be outside your Guide Hall, at the edge of your front yard, or in the local park – but make sure you check if you need permission before leaving them in a public place.
