Gods Eye Mobile

Age Range: All ages
Time Required: 10 - 50 minutes
Fundamental: World Guiding

Get creative! Make one Gods Eye or many Gods Eyes to create a mobile.

Materials Needed

  • Wool or Jute & twine
  • Paddle pop sticks or sticks
  • Sticks, skewers or a coat hanger
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. With a small bit of wool, tie your two sticks together. Knot the wool so it doesn’t come undone.
  2. Firmly hold the end of your wool against the center of the sticks.
  3. Wrap the wool in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction (you decide – just be consistent) around one of the sticks.
  4. Move on to the next stick and then wrap it again.
  5. Keep moving around in a circle, wrapping the wool around each stick as you go.
  6. If you run out of wool or want to change colours, simply knot a new piece of wool to the existing piece and keep going.
  7. Make a knot around the stick when you’re done.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7 to make more Gods Eyes for your mobile.
  9. Take some bigger sticks, these can be wrapped partially in wool. Hang your Gods Eyes so they will spin in the breeze without getting tangled.
  10. Hang in your room, on the front veranda or give to a friend!
