Hi {#party.Informal},
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, social isolation, physical distancing, illness and everything that is going on can be a difficult time. Please remember to continue to look after yourselves, and each other, and reach out to your District Manager or Region Manager if you are struggling with anything. I recommend having a read of these psychological tips for getting through these times.
RUOK?
This week we have all been reminded to connect with others and ask RUOK? The theme this year is ‘There’s more to say after R U OK’. We should do our very best to connect with and support each other every day, check in with our friends, family and colleagues and notice the little things and be brave and ask, you might never know the true value of that connection but it could be life saving If you are feeling low or sad, if you could reach out and share that you will find friends and family who care about you. We seem to be settling into a COVID rhythm but please know that should you need it there is assistance in your Regions to help you with your Guiding as well.
Guide Biscuits
I have been enjoying my Girl Guide biscuits this year, and how easy it was to order, pay and wait expectantly at my front door for my delivery. I also sent Girl Guide biscuit care packages to family in Melbourne and Toowoomba, who were very excited to see how our biscuit campaign had joined the 21st Century. I even remembered to allocate my profit (the fundraising aspect of the campaign) to a District. I hear that almost one third of purchasers do not do that, so please make your District name part of your communications so you can maximise profits out of those yummy treats.
Centenary Celebration Camp
We have known the date for Centenary Camp for a while now, 11-16 April 2021, we know the venue, KCC Blue Mountains; we know the Leader in Charge, Jodie Chilvers; and NOW we are thrilled to be able to announce that registrations will open at the end of this month with a Camp Fee of $650 for youth and $550 for Leaders. Camp is coming together really well and very soon some more info will be relayed to Regions as well as the Centenary Website. I am sure you will have been starting to talk to parents and girls about this once in a life time Camp to celebrate 100 years of Guiding in New South Wales.
Qualification Training
I am pleased to be able to announce that there are two further dates for online Leader Qualification Training. Following on from the successful Leader Qualification Training in July with the next one up and running for this Sunday, and with more Leaders who are keen to get their training underway; the next two trainings days will be held on Saturday, 17 October, and Sunday, 1 November. Registrations will open next week so be on the lookout for an email if you are a newer Leader who has not yet been to a training day.
Olave Program Centenary Challenge
The Olave Program Committee have launched the Olave Program Centenary Challenge and are keen to get as many Olaves involved as possible. Take a walk back in time then step into the present Olave Program, choose which activities will challenge you as you move through the three Aspects which make up the Program, Community, Adventure, and Self Development. Take a look at their Socials to find out more...I hear there is a badge to be earned!
Take care.
Yours in Guiding,
Sarah Neill
